OVER 170 officers joined forces with key local partners in Barnsley today for an operation focusing on domestic violence, neighbourhood crime and anti-social behaviour.
It was the first Operation Duxford of the year.
The highly-visible operation returned to the streets of Barnsley with policing activities continuing throughout the day.
Barnsley District Commander, Chief Superintendent Simon Wanless said: “Our teams have been working hard throughout the day, with some of our officers out on the road bright and early this morning executing a series of warrants within our communities for drugs and weapons.
“Officers have also been present within the town centre along with our partners from Barnsley Council, engaging with local residents and speaking to them about the issues that matter the most to them.
“As well as this, our officers have also carried out a burglary operation across some of our district burglary hotspots, conducting patrols around some of our local areas.
“If you see our officers out and about in Barnsley today, please do stop and speak to them as they are there to help.”
