BARNSLEY College has received a prestigious plaque from the Association of Colleges (AoC) Sport, making it one of only four institutions nationwide to earn this top-tier certification.

AoC Sport leads the development of sport and physical activity in further education. Their three-star certification acknowledges four essential pillars: Participation, Competition, Workforce, and Community.

The accolade acknowledges the college’s exceptional dedication to fostering excellence in sports, notably through its innovative partnerships with other local educational institutions and grassroots clubs.

Luke Forgione, a Football Coach and Performance and Athlete Development Coach at the college, said: “We are pleased to be recognised as one of the leading colleges in the country for our football provision. The accreditation celebrates the hard work that goes off behind the scenes to provide excellent opportunities for our students. Whether this be community-based partnerships, football academy provision, student workforce or much more.

“Everyone associated should be really proud to be recognised as one of a small cohort of colleges in the country leading in the way in FE football.”
