A CHIPPY is set to be turned into a new wine and cocktail bar after Barnsley Council’s planning board approved the plans.
Darton Fisheries, based on Church Street, Darton, is set to become ‘The Rose Box’ after the green light was given by the council.
Planning documents state that before the unit was a chippy, it was used as a mortuary.
The proposed opening times for the site are 12pm until 11pm.
In a bid to combat noise concerns, there will be no external speakers or live music and only low volume background music will be played inside the bar.
Last orders will be 8.30pm between Monday and Thursday, 10.30pm on Friday and Saturday, and 8pm on Sundays.
No representations were received by residents and as such the plans were approved earlier this week.
