A FAMILY Hub nursery has been awarded an ‘Outstanding’ rating by Ofsted.

In their report, Ofsted inspectors praised Central Family Hub nursery staff for their highly effective support for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) as well as those who may need additional support.

A council spokesperson said: “Our team has been recognised for their prompt action in identifying and addressing gaps in children's learning, working closely with other professionals such as early help, inclusion teams, and speech and language therapists. The strategic use of additional funding makes sure that every child receives the best possible support.

“Managers at our hub nursery are also noted for their high ambitions and dedication to each child’s progress. They inspire and instil a sense of purpose in all staff members, making sure that every child is known thoroughly through regular planning meetings and training days. Our staff's dedication extends to their own professional development, with many completing additional research in areas such as psychology and supporting children who speak English as an additional language.”

Coun Trevor Cave, Cabinet Spokesperson for Children’s Services, said: “We are incredibly proud of our staff and the exceptional outcomes achieved for the children that attend our nursery.

“We want every child in Barnsley to have opportunities to learn, grow and be inspired as part of our Great Childhood Ambition, and this is a great example of how it’s never too early to start.

“This Outstanding Ofsted rating is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and passion of our entire team, they help make Barnsley a great place for children to grow and thrive.”
