A BARNSLEY resident will have to pay over £700 after pleading guilty to fly-tipping.

Aidan Wood of Westfields Road, Worsbrough, was in court last week after being caught fly-tipping at Vernon House in Yews Lane, Kendray.

Mr Wood was identified as being responsible for fly-tipping following investigations by Barnsley Council Neighbourhood Wardens and South Yorkshire Police after a large amount of building waste was found at the location.

Mr Wood, 31, attended court last Thursday having failed to attend an earlier hearing. Electing to represent himself, he pleaded guilty to the offence. He was fined £200 with an £80 victim surcharge and a further £446 to be paid in costs. Mr Wood will pay a total of £726 at a rate of £20 a month.
