BARNSLEY Hospice’s successful ‘Treecycle’ scheme – which collected a record number of Christmas trees earlier this year – is set to return again in January.
The scheme sees drivers collect and recycle Christmas trees, helping relieve some of the new year’s stress and helping the environment in the process.
Their work is supported by employees from Clearance and Clean Up, Countrywide Healthcare and Rapid Response Telecoms who are donating their time to collect from across Barnsley, with trees being recycled by S Thompson Tree Services.
Collection will take place on Sunday January 5, with the hospice asking for a minimum donation of £15.
Simon Atkinson, corporate partnership manager at the hospice, said: “By letting us take the stress out of disposing of your Christmas tree, you’ll also be supporting Barnsley Hospice deliver vital care to those with life-limiting illnesses.
“With the incredible support of our corporate partners, we were able to collect a record number of trees in January, and we anticipate our ‘Treecycle’ scheme will be even more popular this time, so I’d encourage people to book in as early as possible, even if you haven’t bought any presents yet.
“It’s also great knowing you’ve done your bit for the environment.”
