BARNSLEY Council has launched its Walk Through Autumn scheme to improve residents’ mental and physical health.
This year’s theme is ‘walk together’, with many organised activities taking place over half-term next week.
Coun James Higginbottom, cabinet spokesperson for environment and highways, said: “Walking is one of the easiest ways to incorporate physical activity into our daily lives - it’s free and a great way to explore our borough.
“Even a short walk a day can be incredibly beneficial to your mental and physical health.
“Every active minute counts and helps you to move more, live well and feel better.
“The programme for the week is fabulous and offers something for people of all ages, including walking sports and Halloween-themed events, many of which are free and perfect for half-term.”
A full list of events can be found on the council’s website.
