TEMPORARY traffic lights will be in place for more than a month while highways engineers connect a new link road to the existing network.

Multi-way signals will be installed on Barugh Green Road, in Barugh Green, from tomorrow (Monday) until December 1.

It’s the biggest change to Barnsley’s 750-mile road network since the new one-way gyratory in the nearby Dodworth ward and will see a new link connect Higham and Barugh Green. The council received £10.63m for the scheme from the Local Government Fund (LGF).

MOTORISTS have been warned to expect delays on Grange Lane whilst work takes place later this month. Temporary traffic lights will be situated on the stretch of road from October 28 to October 29. Virgin Media are conducting work on the site.

EMERGENCY gas repair works outside a local primary school are set to start. From October 28 to November 1, the works will take place on Burton Road in Barnsley. Cadent are responsible for the work, stating that delays are likely.
