ROYSTON man Ian Neville completed his 600th Barnsley Parkrun last weekend and he’s showing no signs of stopping just yet.
The 59-year-old decided to start the Barnsley Parkrun, which is held each Saturday at Locke Park, following its inception in 2011.
And he’s not looked back.
“I did my first one when it started in Barnsley in 2011,” he said.
“I’ve been into fitness all my life.
“I was at a loose end after I stopped playing football and somebody told me about a run that had started in Locke Park.
“I remember the first one it was a cold February morning.”
Fourteen years later and Ian completed his 600th Parkrun last Saturday.
That’s 1,800 laps of Locke Park, over 1,800 miles and had he ran down in a straight line it would have taken him as far south as the sands of the Sahara Desert.
He added: “I didn’t even think I’d end up doing six, never mind 600.
“You just take it week by week. I’d say if you fancy it, give it a go. You never know how far it will take you, and you’ll make friends for life along the way.”
