A COLLEGE graphic design student is celebrating after his logo design to commemorate Worsbrough Mill’s 400-year anniversary was chosen to represent the landmark.
Worsbrough Mill, one of the oldest working mills in the UK, dates back to 1625 and is celebrating the momentous anniversary this year.
Graphic design students have been competing to design a logo that will be used in official marketing over the course of 2025, with 27 separate designs submitted.
A judging panel including members of staff from the college, mill and council chose Addison Batten’s design as the winner, with Ronni Kellitt and Jamie Gledhill’s work being highly commended.
Addison said: “I would like to sincerely thank the judges for selecting me as the winner of the 400th anniversary design competition.
“It’s an immense honour to be part of such a significant milestone in the mill’s history, and I am truly grateful for the opportunity to contribute to its legacy.”
Coun Robin Franklin, cabinet spokesperson for regeneration and culture, added: “We received amazing submissions as part of this exciting project to recognise 400 years of Worsbrough Mill.
“The students showed innovation and demonstrated its history and heritage in wonderful ways.
“It was tough to pick a winner, but we’re delighted that a new logo will be used throughout this year to highlight the anniversary, with this project funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.”
