PLANS to use a Goldthorpe property as a new children’s home has been approved by Barnsley Council.
The home, on Elizabeth Street, will be registered as an ‘emotional and behavioural home’ for a maximum of one child.
A report said: “The children would be from eight years of age and up to 18 years of age and will undergo a stringent impact risk assessment to ensure they integrate with the local community.
“This considers the home, the environment, the community, plus peers groups and assesses against each child as an individual prior to admission into the home.
“The children will live at the property long term, hopefully for many years.
“This is not a halfway house or emergency housing for a child.”
Plans were originally submitted in August before Barnsley Council’s planning board gave the green light earlier this week.
