THIS Wednesday a team from Penistone set off on a race to Barcelona in a car that cost less than £500.
Teams from across the country will be taking part in the Skinflint Rally, with Penistone Round Table hoping to defend their title after finding success last year.
In their winning rally, the team managed to raise £11,000 for Sheffield Children’s Hospital and this year will be raising funds to be split between the children’s hospital and Barnsley Hospice.
Current chair of Penistone Round Table, John Mahoney, along with fellow Round Table members Damian Beeken, John Miller and Steve Morley set off on the epic journey in their Toy Story-themed Ford Mondeo which due to rules of the race must be bought and refurbished for under £500 and are posting constant updates on Facebook.
