BARNSLEY Hospice supporters celebrated its 30th birthday with an anniversary ball at the weekend.

The fundraising event took place at Wortley Hall on Saturday night.

A hospice spokesperson said: “As well as being a great opportunity to thank all involved for their continued support, it was also a chance to reiterate just how important fundraising and donations are to ensure we can continue delivering the best possible care for those with life-limiting illnesses and their loved ones.

“A special thanks to our patrons Lord-Lieutenant of South Yorkshire, Professor Dame Hilary Chapman DBE and Dan Jarvis MP, for helping make this event possible.

“To Wortley Hall, Sheffield, for hosting us and our wonderful entertainment for the evening. Also, to the Mayor and Mayoress of Barnsley, Dickie Bird OBE and Frank Carter OBE for joining us along with our other fantastic guests.

“Finally to all those who so kindly donated prizes for our auction that helped raise even more funds on the night. From all of us here at Barnsley Hospice, thank you!”
