SHADOW Sports Minister Stephanie Peacock recently visited Thorncliffe Health and Leisure Park to learn more about the work of health centres.

The MP for Barnsley East visited the High Green venue - which is run by Places Leisure, a member of UK Active scheme - to learn more about the work they do and the challenges they face.

She said: “I was pleased to meet with staff at Thorncliffe Health and Leisure Park recently alongside Labour candidate Marie Tidball.

“They explained the work they do in the community to facilitate access to sport and leisure. In particular, it was great to hear about their Big Sister Mentorship Project, which is a key initiative designed to inspire teenage girls to get active and build confidence.

“Thank you to everyone involved in this visit for making this possible.”
