ALMOST 20 per cent of all Covid tests taken in Barnsley are returning a positive result, government figures have confirmed.

In the week ending April 5 – the latest figures available – 3,041 Covid-19 PCR tests were taken and 17.8 per cent of those were positive.

Since the start of the pandemic more than 1.8 million tests have been taken by Barnsley residents.
