OFFICERS from a neighbourhood policing team conducted a series of patrols yesterday to help combat crime in the area.
During their shift, the officers escorted a drunken man back to his home address after he was found blocking the pavement on Park Road.
They also arranged for medical assistance for a man found in distress in Mandela Gardens.
Antisocial behaviour hotspots were also targeted across the town centre.
A spokesperson for the team said: “If you see your Police Constables and PCSOs on foot beat in the Town Centre and Central Ward, please stop us for a friendly chat.”
