Winners announced following Mayor's Parade celebrations

THOUSANDS of people lined the streets in Barnsley town centre on Saturday for the annual Mayor's Parade.

Musicians, dancers and other parade contributors embraced this year's Barnsley by the sea theme.

Mayor of Barnsley, Coun Brian Mathers had a hard job picking the winners but after much deliberation they were as follows:

Mayor’s choice – MENCAP

Best Walking Group – Barnsley Central Guides and Brownies

Best float – Wosskow Brown Solicitors

He said: “I would like to thank all individuals, groups and organisations who took part: your support helped to make the Mayor’s Parade, once again, a wonderful day that Barnsley can be proud of.”
