‘GOOD’ progress has been made in signposting people to a new drug and alcohol prevention service.

The North East Area Council, which commissioned the service in June last year, sought to reduce residents’ reliance on drugs and alcohol by employing an advisor whose role is to help those in need.

Councillors will meet next Thursday to discuss the next stages of the scheme, although a report said early signs have been positive.

It added: “To date the worker has made good progress with raising awareness of the service in the area and has received referrals from several different partnership agencies.”
