A UNIVERSITY tutor from Millhouse Green was invited to South Yorkshire Police’s headquarters this week to accept a recognition award for work on violence against women and girls.

The police’s campaign to tackle the violence against women and girls encourages people to do more to help stop it.

Michelle Rawlins, a journalism tutor at the University of Sheffield, attended the event this week with three journalism and broadcast journalism students.

They had all agreed to tell their stories for the police’s campaign in the ‘Know More’ scheme which shows the different types of abuse women suffer – particularly online.

She said: “Hopefully the more we tackle violence and abuse against women, the more those responsible will be held to account.

“I’m very proud of the students.

“They feel really grateful that they’re able to be a part of this campaign.

“The more campaigns that we have that teach about the different types of abuse that women suffer, the better.”
