A SMALLER bin collection truck has been drafted in to make crews’ jobs easier on narrow, congested streets.
The Rockingham ward in particular is where the 12-tonne vehicle is doing its rounds after Barnsley Council complained about residents’ inconsiderate parking.
This, they said, led to a series of missed collections due to difficulties encountered with manoeuvring on narrow streets where problematic parking was found.
Coun James Higginbottom, cabinet spokesperson for environment and highways, said: “Our teams have identified several streets in the Rockingham ward that are experiencing disruptions to bin collections.
“Primary issues contributing to these disruptions is difficulty assessing certain areas due to parked cars and narrow streets.
“We’re leaving reminder cards on the windscreens of vehicles asking people to park considerately on waste collection days.”
