A NATIONAL arts charity is aiming to deliver a long-term programme in Barnsley to help promote rising photography stars.

Photoworks has launched the Barnsley Photo Collective initiative with support from the Civic and have already begun working with local schools, held workshops, run film screenings and began fortnightly social events at the Spiral City Bar in The Arcade.

To push this further, they will be hosting a screening of a British documentary – that has been featured at multiple film festivals – next Thursday at the Civic.

One Day At A Time, by Sam Bentley, follows the residents of Damien John Kelly House, an addiction recovery centre in Liverpool.

Written by Sam following his own journey of recovery, they hope the screening – a following conversation with Sam and fellow artist Sean O’Connell – will help encourage aspiring local artists.
