PLANNING permission is being sought to convert a former pub into eight new apartments.

If approved, work will start on Dobie Street at the ‘The Morning Star’ pub which has been closed for more than a decade.

Four one-bedroom apartments, one one-bedroom duplex apartment and three studio apartments are being mooted.

A total of ten neighbouring properties have been made aware of the plans with no appeals to date. Public consultation ends on November 4.

AN APPEAL against Barnsley Council’s decision to refuse retrospective planning consent for a car port has also been dismissed. Applicant Raymond Law sought permission from the local authority’s planning board having erected the structure, documents say, at his home on Badsworth Close, Wombwell. However, this was turned down before Mr Law unsuccessfully appealed to the Planning Inspectorate, which can overrule a council’s decision. According to the documents, the structure – which will be dismantled – had a ‘harmful’ impact on the area.

PLANS to demolish two buildings in Worsbrough Bridge and replace them with two new properties have been approved by the council. An application was originally submitted in October 2023 for work to take place at Darley Yard.

PLANS for an annexe which were originally thrown out by Barnsley Council’s planning board have been granted following an appeal. The building will be built at a home on Cross Lane, Royston, in order to house a dependant relative. It was dismissed but an appeal to the Planning Inspectorate was successful.

RETROSPECTIVE planning permission has been granted to convert a former bookies into a tanning salon. The former Coral bookmakers, on Market Place in Cudworth, was turned into a salon in June though no application was submitted to the council’s planning board. An application was subsequently put forward to the council which was approved earlier this week.

PLANS to change a barn into an annexe – which were originally thrown out by Barnsley Council’s planning board – have been granted following an appeal. The conversion can now happen at Roger Royd Farm, on Whin Moor Lane, Silkstone. It was dismissed but an appeal to the Planning Inspectorate was successful.

RETROSPECTIVE planning permission is being sought to install four security cameras at an Oxspring farm. If approved, the cameras will be allowed at Dean Head Farm, based on Dean Head Lane. Five neighbouring properties have been made aware of the plans with no appeals to date. Public consultation ends on November 6.
