A POPULAR fast food restaurant will be built in a supermarket’s car park after Barnsley Council’s planning board approved plans.
A Burger King chain in the car park of Tesco at Stairfoot, Wombwell Lane, will now be built after plans were submitted to the council in September.
The new restaurant will be built next to the petrol station with 57 of the current 110 car parking spaces being lost.
However a report states these spaces are not needed by Tesco or the recently-opened gym.
A total of 35 jobs will be created through the proposed restaurant, which will operate between 8am and 11pm daily.
The plans were given the green light earlier this week.
