BARNSLEY Round Table has supported several local causes this year – and is still on the lookout for more groups to help.

Donations have been made from the proceeds of last year’s Locke Park fireworks and bonfire.

The Round Table has helped Kendray JFC which supports kids into football and offers low-cost training with a donation to provide items including team kits, a barrier and footballs.

Station House Community Association has also received helped.

“We met the wonderful staff who provide such an outstanding service to their community. We're delighted to make a donation towards their food costs for the year. At all sessions, they provide a healthy, balanced diet, fresh fruit and drink as the basis to enable the children to more effectively grow, learn and play,” said the Round Table’s Jonny Brown.

“We have also helped Weston Park Transport Service which provides free transport for those undergoing treatment. The donation has helped fund the Barnsley transport service that picks up at three locations in Barnsley and helps people access the services they need without the added stress.”

Financial help has also been given to Hoyland Remembrance and Parade Group which is organising and running the remembrance parade and service, conserving war memorials in Hoyland and the local area, whilst engaging the local community to fundraise.

“Our donation will contribute to the parade and help maintain the memorials,” said Jonny.

“We are still accepting donation requests from great causes and charities in Barnsley. As long as they primarily serve people in the local area and aren't a national charity.
