POLICE have issued advice on preventing vehicle thefts this winter.
Officers have warned about the dangers of icy mornings.
A spokesman said: “Many of us may be in a rush and will be needing our windscreens to be defrosted quickly, but did you know that it is a criminal offence to leave a parked vehicle unattended while the engine is still running?
“It may be tempting to turn the heating up and leave your vehicle while you continue with your morning routines, but this also provides an easy opportunity for criminals looking to take a chance.
“Allow yourselves extra time in the morning to ensure you have sufficient visibility before you drive your vehicle, and remember to always stay with your car while the engine is running.”
