THE annual Manvers Charity Shield dragon boat event took place last Saturday.
The funds raised from the numerous teams competing goes back into ensuring the lake can be used by others.
A spokesperson said: “From the competitors and food vendors to the stallholders – and, of course, our incredible volunteers, we appreciate each and every one of you. We truly enjoyed every moment.
“The sense of community and camaraderie was simply amazing. A special congratulations to Barnsley Hospital Charity’s ‘Dragon Boat Don and Divas’ and ‘Barnsley Wave Riders’ for reaching the semi-finals, and to Barnsley Barbell’s Buccaneers and Barracudas for making it to the finals.
“A big thank you to Barnsley Barbell for donating their winnings to Manvers Lake and Dearne Valley Trust. The money will go towards supporting our core values which include preserving the beauty of our beloved lake and parkland.”
