PLANS to use a Thurnscoe property as a children’s home for a teenager have been approved by the council.

The High Street building will be used as a specialised home for a 15-year-old male who is severely autistic.

The report states: “This home will provide a stable, supportive and nurturing environment, tailored to meet the unique needs of the young individual.

“The child in question requires round-the-clock care, and as such, will be always supported by a dedicated team of four professional carers.

“The conversion of the property into a children’s home has been carefully considered by the chi.ld’s family and registered care providers, who view this location as the young man’s long-term, permanent residence.

“The intention is to create a safe and secure living environment that aligns with his specific needs, ensuring his well-being and development in a familiar and supportive setting.

“This change of use will not only benefit the child but also contribute positively to the community by providing specialised care in a residential setting.”

An application was originally submitted in August before being given the green light by Barnsley Council’s planning board earlier this week.
