USE it or lose it! That’s the message from the Parkway Cinema as it announces a cut in all ticket prices in a bid for survival.
Co-owner and director Rob Younger has appealed to the town to support the venue revealing it is dangerously close to closing for good.
“Thanks for all your support this weekend, which we really appreciate. I would also like to thank you all for the kind comments on various "rent based" posts over the last few days.
“However, like all cinemas, we are really struggling at the moment, mainly due to the lack of films following the writers and actors strikes last year, as highlighted by Cineworld recently.
“We are a family owned and operated business, with no funding or external support and to be honest, we are dangerously close to having to close for good.
“We need your support and we need it now, like never before!
“From Friday, we are reducing all of our standard ticket prices to £5, as we know that Barnsley folk like a bargain. Please bear us in mind when choosing where to see films over the next few weeks. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice opens on Friday and this will be priced at £5 for everyone.
“It is now definitely a case of use us or lose us and that is so difficult to say, but it’s the truth.”
