A DARFIELD pub is hosting a ‘Scruffts’ dog show today to raise money to buy a community defibrillator.
The show will kick-off from 1pm at the New Cross Keys – and a number of prizes will be up for grabs.
The ‘Best in Class’ formats – which will be judged by a special guest – include ‘most handsome dog’, ‘egg and dog race’ and the cutest puppy.
Dan Lawrence, 35, is the landlord of the pub – and he hopes to raise enough money for a defibrillator to be placed on the pub which would benefit the whole community.
He said: “We’ve done fundraisers for two different charities over the last two years.
“We first raised £1,200 for Breast Cancer Now and then last year we raised £1,400 for Prostate Cancer UK.
“This year we wanted to do something a little bit different which will help put back into the community.
“The dog show is one of the events we’ll be hosting with the eventual hope of raising enough money for a community defibrillator.
“We’ve already raised a couple of hundred pounds and that’s before any events have even started.”
Registration for the event begins at 1pm, with a £3 fee applied.
There will be lots of prizes available for those who attend.
