A GOLFER managed to hit the perfect shot over 190 yards to achieve a never-before-seen hole-in-one – and was awarded a £40,000 car as a prize.

There isn’t a more fitting award for driving instructor Dave Haimes, who pulled off the impressive shot on the ninth hole of Silkstone Golf Club last weekend during the Roann Trophy competition.

It’s the first time such a score has been recorded at the par three hole in ten years.

To celebrate, Sandal Mini – who sponsored the event alongside Roann Ltd – awarded Dave with £40,000 to be used at a Mini dealership on a car of his choice.

Dave told the Chronicle: “I like my golf – I go out to play twice a week.

“I’ve been a member at Silkstone since 2008 and in all that time I’ve never got particularly close to a hole-in-one.

“The fact that I did it for the first time on that hole and on that day feels like a miracle.

“As soon as I hit the shot I knew it had gone well but I didn’t think it was a hole-in-one.

“There was a guy operating a drone who shouted out that he thought it had gone in.”
