SOUTH Yorkshire Police are urging Barnsley residents to ‘back their fight’ in bringing down ‘untouchable’ criminals.
Every month, thousands of pounds are recovered from criminals across South Yorkshire – but police bosses admit it’s just the tip of the iceberg.
They are calling on locals to share intelligence with officers about people who live a lavish lifestyle but don’t have a job.
Since the start of 2024, police have obtained £1,299,926 of cash from criminals, through the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) and Civil Forfeiture Orders.
Detective Superintendent Anna Sedgwick said: “A lot of work occurs behind the scenes and it may feel like we haven’t acted on what you have told us, but I can assure you, we do, it all helps us understand a bigger piece and strike when the time is ready.
“You can submit intelligence anonymously via independent charity Crimestoppers, but your missing piece could be the vital link for us to take enforcement action.
“If something doesn’t feel right, get in touch.”
