A NEW facility at Elsecar Heritage Centre will make the site more accessible and inclusive for visitors.

The Changing Places toilet facility has been added to cater for the needs of disabled visitors.

It features a height-adjustable changing bench, a ceiling track hoist, a shower, a washbasin, and a toilet with grab rails.

The facility is spacious enough to accommodate a wheelchair user and up to two carers.

Coun Robin Franklin, cabinet spokesperson for regeneration and culture, said: “We’re delighted to announce the opening of the Changing Places toilet facility at Elsecar Heritage Centre, which will make a huge difference to the experience of our visitors.

“This facility, along with the other improvements planned, will ensure that Elsecar Heritage Centre is a place that everyone can enjoy.

“It’s such a special place to visit, packed with independent shops, cafes, beer tap, antiques centre and children’s play area, it’s a wonderful trip out for everyone.”
