A FIVE-YEAR-OLD online sensation has earned himself the prestigious YouTube Silver Play Button as more than 100,000 subscribers follow his incredibly popular videos.
Harley Charlesworth has garnered 103,000 subscribers for his unique brand of children’s horror videos, which he uploads to his channel ‘Harley’s World’.
The King’s Oak Primary pupil has been making videos with his dad and producer, Kieran, for a year.
A professional photographer in his own right, Kieran uses his technical skills to help Harley record videos, where the two go on adventures seeking children’s characters who they pretend are hidden around Barnsley.
“He’s over the moon,” said Kieran.
“I don’t think he quite understands the amount of people who’ve subscribed, though.
“He keeps saying he’s got 100 subscribers so I’m having to tell him that no, it’s 100,000.”
Play Buttons are awards given to creators who reach certain subscriber milestones.
The silver award is the first, celebrating reaching 100,000 subscribers, followed by the gold award for one million and diamond for ten million.
“It’s a big achievement for a five-year-old,” Kieran added.
“He probably loves it even more now than he ever has – we get lots of comments from other kids so I’ll read them to him.
“Kids at school love it – he told me: ‘I’m the YouTuber at school now’.
“They’re really good to him, they make a fuss over him.”
The family have just moved to a new house in Royston, and Kieran plans on making the most of their extra space to help Harley’s passion grow.
“He’s got his own space to film now.
“We’ve got a room upstairs which we’re going to make into a little studio and gaming room.
“If he gets any toys and wants to make videos about them then he’ll be able to do it in there.
“He’s also done a livesteam playing Minecraft – he’s great when he’s off camera but when I tell him the camera’s on and he’s live he gets a bit shy.
“When he’s playing on his own though he talks to himself like he’s a livestreamer.”
For this achievement, and the continued excitement for his videos, Harley has been nominated for the Young Superstar award at this year’s Proud of Barnsley.
