PLANNING ROUND-UP: Plans to build three new properties in Thurnscoe have been approved – almost three years after an application was originally submitted.

The application for the work to take place on Merrill Road was originally submitted in December 2021.

These plans were given the green light by Barnsley Council’s planning board last week.

PLANS to construct a new high voltage substation at Kendray Hospital have been submitted to the council. If approved, the substation will be built at the Doncaster Road site with an added access road for maintenance. Public consultation ends on July 26.

PLANNING permission is being sought to create office space at a unit on Carlton Industrial Estate. If approved, the space will be added to an existing unit at Tapco Enprol. A total of ten neighbouring properties have been made aware of the plans with no appeals to date. Public consultation ends on July 29.

AN application to build a new property in Worsbrough Common has been rejected by the council. Plans were originally submitted in February for the new house to erected on Tower Street. They were turned down by the council’s planning board earlier this week. A report states: “The development would disrupt the uniform and traditional character of the street scene by virtue of the appearance, orientation, layout and materials of the proposed dwelling. Insufficient information has been provided regarding the proposed highways works.”

PLANS to turn a Bolton-upon-Dearne takeaway into an off-licence have been submitted to the council. If approved, the work will take place at a unit on Furlong Road. A total of nine neighbouring properties have been made aware of the plans, with no appeals to date. Public consultation ends on July 25.

PLANS to convert a Goldthorpe building into eight new flats have been approved by Barnsley Council. An application was originally submitted in March for the work to take place on High Street. These plans were given the green light by Barnsley Council’s planning board earlier this week.

PLANS to build a new two-storey house in Thurlstone have been turned down by Barnsley Council. An application for work to take place on Manchester Road was originally submitted in November. These plans were rejected by the council’s planning board earlier this week.
