BARNSLEY Council will work with fed-up communities who have complained about motorists’ ‘inconsiderate’ parking on grass verges.

The matter – discussed at the recent full council meeting – was brought up by newly-elected Coun Steve Bullcock, who represents the Kingstone ward.

He claimed people on Highstone Avenue have been particularly impacted.

“If this was someone parking on a grass verge outside Barnsley Town Hall, they wouldn’t get away with it,” he said.

“The damage caused by vehicles parking on them makes areas look uncared for.”

Coun James Higginbottom, cabinet spokesperson for highways and environment, confirmed the council’s ‘keenness’ to help.
