BARNSLEY Round Table has donated thousands of pounds to the Barnsley community over the years and is once again accepting donation requests from local charities and good causes.

Round Table members organise the Locke Park bonfire and fireworks every year and proceeds are donated to help the local community.

A spokesman said: “We have a significant pool of money to donate from last year’s bonfire which we would like to give to charities and good causes.

“We’re always looking for volunteers to grow our numbers to make this year’s bonfire on November 2 even more successful. It’s a great opportunity for any lads, aged 18-45, who are looking to expand their social life or raise money for charity to do more.”

Groups helped last year included Barnsley Hospice, Betta Lives, Royston Animal Welfare, Dodworth Miners Welfare Boxing and Fitness Group, Action for Barnsley Homeless and Andy’s Man Club, Barnsley.
