TWO men pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer in Lundwood – leaving him with broken facial bones and damaged teeth.
Toby Love, 20, of Park Avenue, and Jack Love, 19, of Village Court, indicated guilty pleas to grievous bodily harm at Barnsley Magistrates’ Court following the incident on April 25.
Both will appear at Sheffield Crown Court on May 31.
It was shared by South Yorkshire Police that the attack came as a result of the officer encountering and attempting to detain one young man engaging in antisocial behaviour in a group on Pontefract Road at around 8.45pm.
The officer was then allegedly attacked by a group of six young men – suffering kicks and punches to the head and face.
