A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: "Officers have been on-scene this afternoon in and around Locke Park in Keresforth Hall Road in Barnsley after responding to an earlier incident.
"A man has sustained injuries not considered to be life-threatening.
"Officers remain at the park continuing their enquiries and there is believed to be no wider threat to the public.
"No further comment will be made at this time while those enquiries continue."

REPORTS have emerged of a potential shooting in Locke Park.
At around 3pm today (October 9) reports began circulating on social media of the incident - and a large police presence was seen in the area.
The Yorkshire Air Ambulance was also reported to have attended the scene.
Information circulating on social media suggests the incident happened near the tower.
Darfield councillor, Coun Kevin Osborne said of the incident: "Worrying news from Locke Park, with reports of a shooting close to a children's play area.
"It's vital our emergency services are left to process the scene in peace; now is not the time for Facebook likes.
"Barnsley is, and will be, better than this."
