​​A PROLIFIC shoplifter who committed 14 different offences over the space of only three weeks has been jailed.

Between Thursday November 14 and Wednesday December 4, Ashley Walmsley stole £650 worth of goods from the Co-Op and One Stop in Hoyland.

The 29-year-old of Kirk View, Hoyland, was arrested on December 4 on suspicion of theft from a shop, and at his interview he refused to comment on his crimes.

The day after, at Barnsley Magistrates’ Court, he pleaded guilty to all 14 charges of shoplifting and was jailed for six months.

He was also given a three-year Criminal Behaviour Order preventing him from entering any Co-Op, One Stop, or B & M Stores shop in the Barnsley area.
