BARNSLEY Museums have been ‘highly commended’ in a national award.
They were recognised in the Museums and Heritage Awards’ ‘digital impact’ category for their work throughout the pandemic.
Offering activities such as interactive games and virtual tours, Barnsley Museums say they were ‘determined’ to offer ways for people to still connect with the town’s history from the comfort of their own homes.
Coun Tim Cheetham, cabinet spokesperson for place, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been recognised in the ‘Digital Impact’ category alongside National Galleries who have produced such exceptional digital work during the pandemic.
“Our aim was always to keep connected to our audiences, offering comfort at times when it was needed most, and this award is a testimony to the hard work and creatively of the entire museum service.”
