A SEVEN-year-old child was taken to hospital after they were hit by a car in Cundy Cross this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to Robert Avenue at 3.53pm today (February 9) following reports of a road traffic collision between a car and a child.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: "Emergency services were called, including the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

"The child was taken to Barnsley Hospital. Their injuries are not believed to be life threatening or life-altering."
