OLD Mill Lane will remain closed for the next few days after a burst water pipe caused damage to the road.
Just before midnight, there was a major burst water pipe. Police closed the road in both directions between Longman Road and Caxton Street.
Yorkshire Water is carrying out repairs on site, and they're expecting repairs to take a few days due to the damage caused.
A spokesperson from Barnsley Council said: "Please allow extra time for your journey and avoid Old Mill Lane. The road is closed between Longman Road and Caxton Street with diversions in place until repairs to the road can be completed."
