Does anyone remember The Londoner on Lamb Lane in Monk Bretton? It started life as Monk Bretton Social Club and then for a short time a casino/nightclub before, in the seventies, becoming an entertainment venue bringing the top acts of the day to the area. WAB presenter Tommy Taylor worked at The Londoner and he now runs The Londoner Revival at The Full House in Monk Bretton regularly. The next one is tomorrow (Saturday) and Tommy would love any memories and, especially, photos of the original venue. He said: "Weekends at The Londoner were very popular, playing the chart music of the time and a big section of Northern Soul which was at its most popular in the mid-seventies. "Monday night was dedicated Northern Soul night with Barnsley's very own legendary soul DJ Bub. "The building was destroyed by fire in the late eighties or early nineties and was demolished ... I would love to find some photos and information to keep its history alive."
