A GROUP of Barnsley lads who have set up their own football team are looking for support from their home town.
Craig Green and Mike Andrew set up the Monk Bretton Falcons after they lost their old football team which used to be based at The Packhorse pub that closed down.
Craig said: "We've put a lot of money into it ourselves. We bought the home kit which was over £400 and designed ourselves a badge - we've got some signing on fees that are due and things like medical kits and first aid to pay out for but the lads are really keen so they are all pitching in.
"The thing is a lot of us are used to having a base, we used to play in pub teams so we're used to playing a match and going back to our pub for a bit of moral support with the family.
"We'd love it if someone would take us on, it would be a real boost to the lads to know we are actually playing for someone and that we'd got some support."
The team has already had four training sessions at Carlton Community College and has over 18 players signed up. The team has joined the Barnsley league and hopes to work its way up the ranks.
Craig added: "I know we're called Monk Bretton Falcons but a lot of us are actually from Royston and we actually were given that name on advice from the league."
