BARNSLEY lad and Capital FM DJ Simon Hirst will be speaking to WAB's would-be DJs as part of our radio open day next week.
Simon will appear on www.wearebarnsley.com/radio as a guest with WAB's presenter Graham Stevens before speaking to 12 locals who expressed an interest in running regular shows. He will be offering advice and speaking a little bit about his career.
We Are Barnsley's staff will also be there to finalise an official schedule of programmes as part of work that's ongoing to improve and expand our radio offering.
Hirsty - who presents Hirsty's Daily Dose with fellow Barnsley lad Danny Oakes and JoJo - started his radio career at 12, making teas for DJs at Radio Aire in Leeds.
Simon, from Dodworth, also had his own chart show on BBC Radio One and has even won a Sony Award for his work.
