AN AUTISM charity is preparing to launch a new support service for people in Barnsley.

Sheffield-based Autism Plus has purchased Dorothy House, on Dodworth Road, and is set to open its doors on Friday, February 14.

It has 11 ensuite bedrooms with three skills rooms, a large kitchen area and an outdoor space so it'll offer residential opportunities and a service to further its clients' employability.

Matthew Mann, marketing officer, said: "There's a recognised need in Barnsley and as there's no dedicated service for those with autism, its timing is perfect."

An open day is being held in the building on Friday, February 14. Two sessions are free to attend from 10am-12pm and 1pm-3pm.
