EX-BARNSLEY manager Bobby Collins has passed away at the age of 82.
Born in Glasgow, Bobby went on to become a Scotland international after beginning his career with Celtic and soon became renowned as one of Scotland's greatest forwards.
At Celtic, he struck 115 goals in 320 appearances, helping his side to a league title and league cup triumph.
He also became one of a handful of players to have scored a hat-trick of penalties in a single match, when he did so against Aberdeen in September 1953.
After a remarkable playing career in the game, which also included spells at the likes of Everton and Leeds, Bobby arrived at Oakwell in 1980 to become the Reds' youth team coach.
Following the departure of Norman Hunter, Bobby took over as manager of the first team in February 1984.
This was a testing time in the town, considering the miners' strike and its consequential effect on Oakwell attendances.
A club statement said: "The thoughts and prayers of everyone at Barnsley Football Club are with Bobby's family at this difficult time."
