ITV is filming at Elsecar Heritage Railway today, ready for a TV poll where viewers can vote for the railway to win £50,000 funding.
The televised vote will be on ITV's Calendar programme at 6pm on November 25, and a phone number will be published in the Daily Mirror on that day for people to call.
The railway wants to win the funding to complete its line to Cortonwood and put up station and create a memorial park there.
Chairman Del Tilling urged everyone to vote.
"This project is for all our coal mining communities and we're proud to be a South Yorkshire finalist in a national competition," he said.
The railway has recently been celebrating having almost doubled its turnover in its busiest year.
