A LOCAL theatre company is giving a modern twist to the classic Cinderella story in their latest production.

Little Shed Productions will present a mischievous reimagination of the popular tale next week at The Academy Theatre, Birdwell, as they perform Soho Cinders.

The edgy, fun, and satirical musical, written by acclaimed duo George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, swaps the fairytale ballroom for the streets of Soho, London. The story follows Robbie, a struggling student whose secret relationship with London Mayoral candidate James Prince sets off a chain of events filled with drama, humour, and unexpected twists.

With infectious music performed by a live band and a witty, heartwarming script, Soho Cinders will bring a mix of politics, scandal, and romance to Barnsley audiences. Set to hit the stage from Wednesday (March 26) until Saturday (March 29), it will delight theatre lovers looking for something fresh and exciting.

Director and choreographer Nicola Long said: “Soho Cinders is a fantastic, high-energy show with a brilliant mix of comedy, drama, and catchy songs.

“It’s a modern fairytale with a razor-sharp edge to which people often say ‘I’ve never heard of it’ or 'I love that show’. We can’t wait to bring it to life for Barnsley audiences so that people go away saying they love it!“”
