CENTRAL Co-op’s annual Christmas Toy Appeal came to Barnsley earlier this week.

The store, on High Street in Dodworth, is currently taking donations to ensure children will have a gift to open on Christmas morning.

The shop’s ‘Toy Appeal Van’ arrived in the town on Wednesday, with locals in attendance to hand over donations.

It was the last stop on the local tour of the scheme – and it’s hoped that hundreds of children will be supported thanks to local donations.

Andy Seddon, the society secretary at Central Co-op, said: “We believe that no child should go without a gift on Christmas.

“The Toy Appeal invites local shoppers to donate new, unused toys or games that will be distributed to children in need through local and national charities.

“Your donation could be the very thing that makes a child’s Christmas extra special – and that’s something worth celebrating.”
